Gel Clot Assay
Description
The Gel Clot Method is the most widely recognized and simplest technique for detecting bacterial endotoxins in pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and biologics. It is a qualitative test based on the ability of endotoxins to activate the Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) reagent, forming a firm gel clot.
This method is commonly applied to:
Sterile pharmaceuticals, injectables, and ophthalmic solutions
Biological products and vaccines
Medical devices
Raw materials and water used in pharmaceutical manufacturing
